
SEPA is a National Government Agency established to provide an efficient and integrated environmental protection system for Scotland, which will both improve the environment and contribute to the Government's goal of sustainable development.
Water quality, water resources, pollution prevention and advice on riverworks activities are all key areas of SEPAs work relating to Tweed. They are responsible for running and maintaining the hydrological network in the catchment and historical and up to date hydrological information on rainfall and river flow is available from their area office in Galashiels. In addition, they are responsible for issuing discharge consents as well as providing a flood warning service.
